Chief Global Logistics and Operations Officer, Avnet, Inc.
Gerry Fay is responsible for global warehousing, semiconductor programming, computer and integration center services and operations, and enterprise-wide risk mitigation as chief global logistics and operations officer. He is a member of the Avnet Executive Board and the Global Executive Council and reports to CEO Rick Hamada.
Avnet Logistics provides specialized supply-chain and logistics services to the global electronic components industry, operating from 48 locations with more than 3 million square feet of warehousing facilities. Avnet Logistics Solutions Centers ship more than 40,000 line items per day for 300 suppliers and 100,000 customers in 70 countries.
With a background in the electronics industry dating back to 1995, Mr. Fay brings in-depth knowledge of Avnet's business, invaluable supplier- and customer-partner insight, business operations expertise as well as productivity and efficiency disciplines.
Mr. Fay joined Avnet in 2005 with the company's acquisition of electronic component distributor Memec, where he was president of Memec Americas. Previously, he held numerous strategic roles, including chief operations officer for Memec's supply-chain and logistics group and chief operating officer for ATLAS Services, a division of VEBA Electronics.
At Avnet, he was named senior vice president of global strategic accounts for Avnet United and created the Avnet Velocity global supply-chain practice at Avnet Electronics Marketing.
In that role, Mr. Fay led the expansion of the key accounts program designed to provide global support services to Avnet's top customer base. He also created Avnet's global supply-chain solutions business to drive supply chain thought leadership across the electronic equipment ecosystem.
Mr. Fay continues to lead Avnet Velocity, and is responsible for the corporate operational excellence function.
Mr. Fay has handled a range of large scale, complex projects, such as the successful integration of Bell Microproducts, which Avnet acquired in 2010. Under his leadership, Avnet United has been recognized by numerous customers, such as Sanmina-SCI Corp. in 2009 and Avaya in 2011 for demonstrating excellence in quality, delivery, service and flexibility. These and other accomplishments earned him an Avnet Chairman's Award in 2010. In addition, Mr. Fay was recognized by Supply & Demand Chain executive magazine on its list of Pros to Know for 2012.
He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA from the University of Redlands, Redlands, Calif. He serves as an executive board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix.
